Featured IslandWood Artist - Cori Dantini
LAYER BY LAYER - MIXED MEDIA GIRLS WITH CORI DANTINI
Cori Dantini is a fierce woman, a protector of women, children and nature. I’ve been a long time follower of her and have been so amazed to watch her artful journey over the past few years. She designs fabrics, she paints and illustrates a wide variety of images and is a successful commercial artist. I still have the tissue box that she designed years ago. My favorite t-shirt is designed by Cori and I wear it proudly all over the world.
Her illustrations are so sweet and I have one sitting over my computer table that I just love. Her class at the IslandWood Art Escape next August is going to be multi-layered.
In her own words:
Layer by layer, you will create whimsical pieces of art using all kinds of medium. You begin by creating a quiet paper layer which will help to build the foundation for your magical paintings. By using pencil, marker, ink, watercolor and acrylic paint over your papered under-painting, you will discover a new way to tell a painted story.
This process is magical…whether it be a hidden message or a bit of poetry peeking from the edge, you will be amazed by the surprises that will reveal themselves, if you allow them the opportunity to be seen.
Vintage paper and ephemera will be incorporated in your design. You will use ink, watercolors, colored pencils, markers and paint. Fun!
Here are a few other projects Cori has designed, including a wall mural.
