MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE WITH CARLA SONHEIM
When the IslandWood Art Escape planning was in its infancy, there was one local artist that we reached out to immediately - Carla Sonheim. This multi-talented artist is a published artist, a gatherer of other artists who teach on her creative network, and she has traveled with and taught several workshops for Bellissima Art Escapes.
Carla Sonheim is a painter, illustrator, and creativity workshop instructor known for her fun and innovative projects and techniques designed to help adult students rediscover a more spontaneous, playful approach to creating. She is the author of three instructional art books, including Drawing Lab for Mixed Media Artists: 52 Creative Exercises to Make Drawing Fun; Drawing and Painting Imaginary Animals: A Mixed-Media Workshop and The Art of Silliness: A Creativity Book for Everyone. In 2012 she co-authored Creative Photography Lab with her husband, Steve Sonheim.
This artist loves to create and explore techniques. She loves to share and often posts on Facebook, free tutorials not only for artists but for kids, too.

Class Description
Mixed Media Collage with Carla Sonheim
Get ready for a full day of mixed-media exploration, techniques and fun! In the morning we’ll make some grid collages, people collages, and moon-paper transparency collages. In the afternoon we will go larger and make a "scraped" animal collage and a more elaborate landscape illustration, complete with sidewalk-crack characters.
We will work with vintage and found papers, hand-painted paper, “moon” paper/transparencies, drawings, photocopies, "tape texture pulls" and more!
